Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA in Visual Art alumna Valerie Hird has a captivating new exhibition titled The Maiden Voyages Project. The show is comprised of the physical illustrated diaries of five women as well as the computer animated version of the recorded entries. It will be on view at the Nohra Haime Gallery on Fifth Avenue in New York City from July 20th through September 11th.

Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA in Visual Art alumni W. David Powell and Artist-Teacher Todd Bartel will be part of an exhibition at Central Booking Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. The show, titled Chemical Reactions, opens on September 2 with a reception on September 16 from 6:00-8:00pm.

The play, Coming in Hot, featuring a scene based on Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA in Writing alumna Christy Clothier's essay "The Controller," (which she developed with VCFA faculty member Jess Row), will be touring the US and parts of Europe from Sep. 7 through Nov 2011. The play has been called a "raw, honest, artful exploration of what it means to be a woman in the US military, based on writings of woman soldiers themselves."

Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA in Visual Art alumnus Nicolas Gadbois has a new solo exhibition opening at the San Diego Mesa College Art Gallery on September 9. The show, titled Industrial, features a new series of paintings focusing on subjects taken from the continuous stream of roadside spectacle visible along highways and freeways. For Gadbois, “These totems of culture represent the inscription of our society on the natural environment."

Starting in September, Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA in Visual Art alumna Joanna Ruggiero will be teaching adult art classes as part of the BAM! (Because Art Matters) program at New Bedford Art Museum in Massachusetts. Courses will be offered in Painting and Photo Collage and Moroccan Still Life. Each course runs for six sessions in September and October.

Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA in Visual Art alumna Linda Post will be part of a group exhibition at the Ledbetter Gallery of The Cole Art Center at The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches, Texas. The exhibition features the work of the Stephen F. Austin State University art faculty. Linda teaches digital media at SFA.

Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA in Visual Art alumna Mona Brady has an exhibition of her work, titled Found Walking, opening on September 14th at Gallery Loupe in Montclair, NJ. In this series of work, Brody channels her process of unearthing, selecting and collecting remains from decayed plants and trees to generate imagery that extends beyond the woods and becomes “wearable objects.”
